The Postern
The Postern is a row of Brutalist houses that sit on the southern perimeter of the Barbican Estate. The rear of these terraces face the communal gardens and benefit from excellent views overlooking St. Giles Cripplegate church.
Our scheme is for a four-storey terraced house; a light restoration to improve general day to day living, and to maximise physical and visual connections to the roof terrace garden. Bespoke timber joinery has been designed to rationalise internal living areas, such as a raised platform bed with integrated drawers to accommodate the owners’ need for storage. For the roof terrace, a new zinc planter with iroko wood panelling and structure offers simplified maintenance through creative detailing.
